Red Light Therapy and Nervous System Support
Not everything that supports healing looks like therapy. Some of the most powerful inputs for your nervous system come through your body itself, at a cellular level, and red light therapy is one of the most compelling examples of that.
Red light therapy, also known by the clinical term photobiomodulation, uses specific wavelengths of red and near infrared light to penetrate your skin and reach the tissues beneath. At the cellular level, this light interacts with your mitochondria, the energy producing structures inside every cell, and supports more efficient energy production. When your cells have more energy available, they function better. Inflammation decreases. Tissue repairs more effectively. And the signaling between your body and your nervous system begins to normalize.
If you’re recovering from trauma, this matters more than it might seem at first. Chronic stress depletes your body at a cellular level. Your immune system stays activated. Inflammatory markers rise. Your body loses its capacity to recover efficiently from even ordinary demands. Over time, this depletion contributes to the fatigue, physical discomfort, and emotional depletion that so many trauma survivors describe.
Red light therapy gives your body targeted support at the level where this depletion is actually happening. It’s not a replacement for therapy. It’s a complement to it that helps your body maintain enough resource to show up fully for the healing work.
In my Lab, red light therapy is one of several tools I offer to support the whole person, not just the mind. I’ve seen it contribute meaningfully to improvements in energy, sleep quality, mood, and physical ease.
Your body deserves support as much as your mind does. Come find out what this feels like.
One client began adding red light sessions after her regular appointments and noticed her energy in the afternoons improved within a few weeks, something she had not expected from what seemed like such a passive tool.
