Burnout Intensives for Executives and Business Leaders

If you are the one everyone at work and at home leans on, and you have been running on empty for longer than you want to admit, this intensive is for you. The Resiliency Co. in Redding, California offers intensives of six to twenty one days for executives, founders, business owners and other high performing people. You are treated by a team of licensed clinicians, your trauma work begins within the first few days, and after you go home you have four clinical aftercare sessions to help you keep what changed.

Our intensives are clinical treatment. Many retreats marketed to executives center on saunas, sound baths and quiet time, and we value rest too, but rest alone does not change the patterns that wore you down. Here your work with licensed therapists is paired with nervous system training in The Resiliency Lab, so the progress you make has a better chance of lasting once you are back at work.

Who this intensive is for

This intensive is built for executives, founders, business owners and other high performing people who are still showing up and still delivering, often at a level the people around them admire, while something underneath has started to give way. Some people come to us after one hard season, like a loss or a crisis they had to lead their company through, and others come after many years of carrying more than anyone around them knew. Both are welcome here, and the treatment looks different for each.

Burnout often shows up quietly, in poor sleep, waking up already behind, less patience with the people you love, a drink most nights to come down from the day, and a flat feeling about work you used to enjoy. The World Health Organization describes burnout as a syndrome that grows out of ongoing workplace stress a person has not been able to manage, and it names three marks of it: exhaustion, a growing mental distance or cynicism toward your job, and a drop in how effective you are at work. The WHO also notes that burnout is not classified as a medical condition, and you do not need to wait for it to become one before you get help.

Our intensives treat trauma and burnout together, because the stress you carry at work can be tied to older experiences that were never dealt with. You do not need a diagnosis to come here, and you do not need to be in crisis. If you are actively suicidal or in medical withdrawal, an intensive is not the right level of care for you right now, and we will help you find the setting that is.

Clinical care in a retreat setting

Over the course of your intensive you will work with more than one licensed clinician, because your care comes from a treatment team. That structure lets us move faster than weekly therapy without cutting anything short, and it keeps the work moving when one approach turns out not to be the right fit for you. Our founder, Jill Shepherd Piercy Clark, and our Clinical Director, Candyce Braker, are both licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, holding license numbers 106007 and 119076.

Trauma treatment starts early in your stay. ART, an evidence based bilateral stimulation approach, generally begins within your first few days, and sometimes it starts with what you notice in your body before any images or memories come up. EMDR and trauma informed individual and group sessions are part of the clinical work as well.

Alongside those clinical hours you spend time in The Resiliency Lab, where neurofeedback, PEMF, red light therapy, BrainTap, vagus nerve stimulation and vibration work help your nervous system learn to settle. Your days also include nutrition and gut health education and skills work on boundaries, relational communication, love languages, and naming and expressing emotion, so you go home with skills you can use in your first week back.

Your schedule also leaves room for sleep, time outdoors and open hours, because your nervous system needs rest to hold on to what it is learning. The work can reach questions of identity and meaning too, like who you are when you are not leading and what you are connected to beyond your work, and there is room for that here, including faith if it is part of your life.

What six to twenty one days look like

Your intensive runs six to twenty one days, and we set the length during your consultation based on what your treatment needs. We know it is hard to step away when people depend on you, so we never add days just to fill out a stay. Each group has no more than eight people, which keeps the group work personal, and executives and business leaders are not placed in groups with first responders, who have a program of their own.

Your spouse or family can take part during the intensive itself, so the changes you make include the people you live with. When your intensive ends, four clinical aftercare sessions with our team, by video or in person, whichever works better for you, help you bring what changed into your work and your home.

The intensive takes place in Redding, California, in Shasta County, roughly one hundred and sixty miles north of Sacramento on Interstate 5. Our clinical home is at 2195 Larkspur Lane, Suite 100, Redding, CA 96002, and you can reach us at 530-338-0087 Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM.

Privacy, getting started, and measuring what changes

We know privacy is a real concern for leaders. Your records are protected health information, and nothing about your treatment goes to your company, your board or your business partners without your signed release. That is true even when your company is paying for the intensive, and it includes your attendance dates, so what is shared and with whom is always your decision.

Most clients can begin within seven days of their first call. If you take medication, it stays managed by your own prescriber, and if a medical emergency comes up during your stay, we work with Mercy Medical Center in Redding.

We also track your progress with standard measures. You complete the PCL-5, which screens for post traumatic stress, along with the PHQ-9 for depression and the GAD-7 for anxiety at intake, at discharge and again at follow up, and our team charts those scores for every client so we can see what actually changed.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the intensive?

Intensives run six to twenty one days. The length is set during your consultation based on what you are working on, and we never add days just to fill out a stay.

Is this a retreat or treatment?

It is clinical treatment in a setting built for rest and focus. Your care comes from licensed clinicians, your trauma work begins within the first few days, and nervous system work in The Resiliency Lab runs alongside it.

Will my company or board find out?

Not without your signed release. That holds even when your company is paying for the intensive, and it covers everything from your attendance dates to what you work on in session.

What does it cost?

Intensives are priced by the day, and the total depends on the length we recommend. The consultation call gives you a specific figure before you commit to anything.

How soon can I start?

Most clients can begin within seven days of their first call. We will talk through timing on the consultation call so you can plan around the people who depend on you.

Do I need a diagnosis to come?

No, you do not. You may still be working full days and performing well, and you do not have to wait until things get worse before you ask for help.

Can my spouse be involved?

Yes, your spouse or family can be part of the intensive itself. Including them helps the changes you make carry over into your home.

What happens after I go home?

Every intensive includes four clinical aftercare sessions with our team. You can hold them by video or in person, whichever works better for you.

Where is the intensive?

The intensive takes place in Redding, California, in Shasta County. Redding sits roughly one hundred and sixty miles north of Sacramento on Interstate 5.

The first step is a conversation

On the consultation call we will tell you whether an intensive is the right level of care for you, how long a stay we would recommend, what it would cost, and when you could begin. If the answer is that you belong somewhere else, we will tell you that too, and we will help you get there. Call 530-338-0087 or request a consultation at www.resiliencyco.net.
